About Flourish
Would you like to join a highly motivated team on a mission to dramatically improve the lives of teens struggling with early indicators of serious mental health concerns? 1 in 25 adolescents and young adults will be diagnosed with psychosis-related disorders, mood disorders, major depressive disorders and other related conditions every year. The majority of these families struggle for decades to find stability and a pathway forward that minimizes suffering. Yet, for 5% of these families, the journey is very different—an outcome of stability and lasting recovery. Why? Contrary to popular belief, it is not due to the genetic lottery—it is because they have access to care that works.
Flourish Health (www.flourish.health) is here because it isn’t just our story, but one that affects millions of families; and probably somebody you know too. It is crystal clear that the suffering often associated with serious mental illness is preventable. We are here to ensure that everybody gets the same access we have
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled startup operator with experience scaling operations. You will be leading clinical operations, growth operations and people operations. You have done this for a mental health or other technology enabled services company before. You are a strong operator—maybe some people even describe process as your superpower. You can prioritize both long and short term, thinking about what needs to be built today vs in six months vs in three years. You have worked with product before and are familiar with how to productize and optimize support for clinical services. You set the bar for operational excellence as we grow our patient care services and become profitable.
You have leadership experience and a level head. Lastly, but most importantly, you care about our patient population: adolescents and transitional aged youth with Medicaid who have serious mental health illness. Many of our patients have recently been hospitalized after a suicide attempt, behavioral outburst, first episode psychosis, or have grown up in foster care.
You will work closely with the co-founders and senior leadership team to run this company well. Your core focus will be scaling operations in two domains:
- Supply/demand optimization - This is the operational and financial heartbeat of a successful technology enabled services company. You will be creating the processes by which we anticipate patient demand for care and prepare for the appropriate staffing to supply that demand.
- Effective clinical care teamwork - Our care delivery is organized into teams of four mental health professionals. The more effectively they work together, the better care they can provide at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with C-Suite to set operational strategy across the company
- Collaborate with the VP of Integrated Patient Care, who oversees clinical excellence and all patient care
- Collaborate with head of product on product strategy, prioritization, roadmapping, needs assessment, and user experience research
- Own state expansions, which requires extraordinary project management, multi-stakeholder management, strategy and nuance, all while maintaining our operational excellence in both new and existing states. Specific processes involved include licensing, credentialing, medicaid registration, and workforce planning
- Own supply/demand optimization, matching staffing to patient volume and aligning state licenses
- Support and manage the VP of Growth Operations as they set the vision for patient enrollment, maintaining standardized eligibility criteria across care teams, and making sure we grow
- Support and manage the Head of Clinical Operations as they set the vision for needs assessment, needs roadmapping, building and improving SOPs, gathering feedback, iterating on operational workflows
- Set the vision for People Operations and manage the Head of People Operations as they build operations for talent acquisition, employee experience and development, weaving DEIB throughout the fabric of our operations and company culture
Skills:
- Demonstrate startup adaptability, being able to prioritize and reprioritize when things change, manage time based on priorities, and reframe adversity as a growth opportunity
- Lead the operations team with excellent people management, caring deeply about your direct reports and setting them up for success
- Set the bar for excellent project management including: identifying roles in the RACI model, distributing work, setting expectations with collaborators, keeping accessible and updated documentation, and communicating updates to stakeholders
- Communicate effectively, including with: assertive communication, active listening, validation
- Engage in healthy conflict and conflict resolution
- Give compassionate, direct feedback; receive feedback mindfully; take accountability for your missteps; give grace for others’ missteps
- Embody the confident humility to engage in problem solving and ask for help
- Lead change management effectively, leveraging the strengths of other team members and building trust across the company
Role Requirements:
- Has served as a senior leader at a startup before
- Professional with 10+ years of relevant experience, including 10+ years of people management
