The majority of these families struggle for decades to find stability and a pathway forward that minimizes suffering. Yet, for 5% of these families, the journey is very different—an outcome of stability and lasting recovery. Why? Contrary to popular belief, it is not due to the genetic lottery—it is because they have access to care that works.

About the Role
We are looking for a psychologist who has worked in an early stage startup. You have experience building clinical programs and are willing to roll up your sleeves. You are bright and orient toward creative problem solving and excellent communication skills. You have the leadership skills to lead the program development team.
The program development team has created a Patient Care Handbook that outlines the roles, responsibilities and workflows of an integrated team. This explains how each carepod consisting of a psychiatrist, therapist, patient guide and family guide work together to serve a shared patient panel. The program development team has also created a Mood & Anxiety Treatment Manual.
You can think at a high level in terms of clinical strategy and own responsibility for multiple different program development initiatives that build off of what has already been created. These will include:
- Mood & Anxiety Treatment Manual: Continuing to develop the content for this manual
- Caregiver Treatment Manual for Externalizing Disorders: A group based manual has been adapted from the defiant teen manual. The groups need to be piloted and care team feedback needs to be gathered to determine what kind of training is needed to scale the approach on the integrated care teams.
- First Episode Psychosis Treatment Manual: Creating this manual from “zero to one” by adapting the publically available IRT manual created by the NAVIGATE trial team for the structure of Flourish’s care team (crediting their work of course).
- Clinical Supervisor Handbook: Conduct a needs assessment with current clinical supervisors, review structure for this manual with your VP, then create this manual from “zero to one” to support the clinical supervisors at Flourish.
- Motivational interviewing company training: Patient touch points initiate through outreach and referrals. Our patient acquisition & growth team along with our patient and family guides have variable levels of clinical training. We need to develop a company wide motivational interviewing training series to help with ambivalent patients, caregivers and families.
- Staff sustainability: working with high acuity teenagers is taxing. We aim to cultivate a sustainable workplace and are looking to create intentional action-oriented protocols for our care team.
Responsibilities
- Program development: conceptualize, plan, and execute clinical programming following the strategic vision set by VP of Program Development
- Implementation: support training and adherence for new programming initiatives
- Stakeholder engagement: collaborate with teammates and cross-functional stakeholders, including clinical care team members, to gather feedback and build consensus
- Quality improvement: monitor adherence and clinical outcomes, identify areas for enhancement, and create iterations
- Change management: support organizational change initiatives related to clinical program development, including workflow redesign, technology product integration and cultural transformation
- Education and training: develop educational curriculum and materials to support clinical team members in enhancing patient care services
Role requirements/ preferences
- PhD or PsyD required
- Professional with 10+ years of relevant experience, including:
- 10+ years of clinical experience with adolescents and high acuity patients
- 10+ years of people management experience
- 4+ years experience in program development creating “zero to one”; ideally, you have created curriculums and built clinical programs before
- Highly collaborative with a deep sense of ownership and accountability; no job too big or too small mindset
- Embodies a growth mindset, is comfortable building things that are changed or iterated on, provides feedback compassionately and receives feedback mindfully
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful clinical programs, with clinical outcomes and clinician adherence
- Ability to reimagine “how things have always been done” - and then communicate and the value proposition and build consensus amongst entrenched interests
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care
