About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Operations Associate to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our billing processes.
We are looking for a startup operator who thrives in highly structured, detail-heavy workflows and is skilled at cross-functional collaboration. You will support the day-to-day execution of billing operations in a model centered around a single bundled monthly rate, requiring rigorous tracking, reconciliation, and consistency.
You are a great fit for this role if you are organized, precise, and take pride in getting the details exactly right. You will report to the Head of Finance.
Role Responsibilities
Billing Operations Execution
Submit and manage monthly billing claims for all active patients under a bundled rate model
Ensure accuracy of billing inputs, including patient eligibility, enrollment status, and service periods
Maintain detailed billing records and audit trails through regular reconciliation processes
Identify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner, including denial and appeals management
Track billing changes such as pauses, discharges, or plan transitions and ensure accurate adjustments
Manage different billing systems and claim structures based on the MCO and state specific requirements
Reconciliation & Data Integrity
Perform routine audits to ensure billing data aligns with internal systems and source-of-truth records
Reconcile billing outputs against enrollment, care delivery, and eligibility data
Flag inconsistencies proactively and partner cross-functionally to resolve root causes
Support month-end close processes by ensuring billing completeness and accuracy
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with leadership to validate patient status, authorizations, and billing eligibility
Partner with Finance on invoicing, reporting, and payment tracking
Respond to internal billing inquiries, modeling Flourish values in high-stakes or time-sensitive situations
Support external billing-related inquiries as needed
Process Improvement & Support
Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows, accuracy, and scalability
Support implementation of billing systems, tools, and process enhancements
Contribute to documentation of billing processes and standard operating procedures
Support additional projects as assigned
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or comparable experience
1–2 years of experience in billing, finance operations, or a detail-oriented administrative role
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Comfort working with structured data and reconciling across multiple sources
Strong written and verbal communication
Preferred
Experience with healthcare billing models (claims submission, bundled payments, both Medicaid and commercial)
Familiarity with billing or financial systems (e.g., Stripe, QuickBooks, or similar tools)
Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Comfort with spreadsheets and data reconciliation (Excel/Google Sheets)
Schedule
Schedule can be 8:30am-5pm or 9am-5:30pm in your local time zone.
Job Type: Full-Time
Work Location: Remote, but attendance and events support is required at 2+ company events per year
Salary: $50,000-$59,000
